Short Track Speedskating World Cup Kicks Off at the Utah Olympic Oval
Team USA 2010 Olympians Scheduled to Compete
KEARNS, Utah – Over 200 of the world’s top short track speedskaters have arrived in Utah and will take to the ice today (Friday, Oct. 21) at the Utah Olympic Oval, to compete in the first ISU Korean Air World Cup stop of the 2011-12 season.
2010 Olympic medalists including Katherine Reutter (Champaign, IL), J.R. Celski (Federal Way, WA), Alyson Dudek (Hales Corners, WI), Lana Gehring (Glenview. IL) and Jordan Malone (Denton, TX) are scheduled to compete along with several outstanding US Speedskating teammates and talented rising stars in the sport.
Team USA will be looking to follow-up their successful 2010-11 season bringing home 35 World Cup season medals and seven World Championship medals. Spectators can expect to see fast-paced action and excitement, as short track speedskating is often referred to as “NASCAR on Ice.”
